AffiASSAY® Urea (BUN) Colorimetric Assay Kit : Diacetyl Oxime Method
Under strong acidic conditions and heat, urea reacts with diacetyl to form a red diazine compound, with the intensity of the color directly proportional to the urea concentration. Due to the instability of diacetyl, diacetyl oxime is typically used in the reaction system. It first reacts with the strong acid to generate diacetyl, which then reacts with urea to produce the red diazine compound.
