AffiASSAY® Urea (BUN) Colorimetric Assay Kit (Urease Method)
Urea can be broken down by urease into ammonium ions and carbon dioxide. In an alkaline medium, the ammonium ions react with a phenol chromogenic agent to form a blue compound. The intensity of the blue color is proportional to the urea concentration and can be quantified using a colorimetric assay at 580 nm.
